All costs for fertility treatments at a glance

We place great emphasis on transparency from the outset. As a private fertility center, we treat all patients regardless of their insurance status. Patients with statutory health insurance can receive treatment on a self-pay basis, while privately insured patients may have their costs covered depending on their insurance plan.

We bill according to the official German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ). Under the GOÄ, we are not permitted to quote fixed or flat-rate prices for medical services. The amounts stated therefore serve as guidance and are typical for the respective services and treatments.

Note regarding VAT: No VAT applies to the initial consultation and diagnostics. VAT may apply to treatments if, following diagnostics, no medical indication is established and the service therefore does not qualify as medical treatment. Where VAT applies, we will indicate this alongside the respective treatment costs.

Cost of Fertility Treatment

The cost of fertility treatment depends on the chosen therapy and individual factors. Below you will find further information on the costs for insemination, IVF, and ICSI.

Cost of Insemination (IUI)

The cost of intrauterine insemination depends on whether partner sperm or donor sperm is used and how many monitoring appointments are required in the respective cycle.

Insemination with partner sperm costs approx. €350 to €420. Without medical indication, 19% sales tax applies. Insemination with donor sperm costs approx. €470 to €540 including applicable sales tax. In addition, there are the required appointments for cycle monitoring and hormone checks. Typically, one to three monitoring appointments are required.

Actual costs may therefore vary depending on the individual cycle course.

Cost of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

The cost of an IVF cycle is approximately €3,200 to €3,600 per treatment cycle. Without medical indication, 19% sales tax applies. In addition, there are costs for anesthesia, external laboratory tests, and necessary medications. Medication costs vary depending on age and existing ovarian reserve and range from approximately €400 to €1,500. Additional treatment options include blastocyst culture, EmbryoGlue, and ZyMōt chamber. Your physician will discuss these additional options with you individually if desired. The success prospects of IVF treatment depend heavily on individual factors such as age and existing ovarian reserve. Therefore, multiple treatment cycles may be required.

Cost of ICSI Treatment

If IVF is not promising or sperm quality is limited, ICSI treatment can be performed.

In ICSI, a single sperm is selected under the microscope and injected directly into the egg. This procedure is more complex than IVF.

The cost is approximately €6,200 to €6,900 per cycle. Without medical indication, 19% sales tax applies. In addition, there are the above-mentioned costs for anesthesia, external laboratory tests, and medications.

The final costs depend, among other factors, on the number of eggs retrieved.

Coverage by Statutory Health Insurance (GKV)

Our fertility center is a private center. Patients with statutory health insurance are treated on a self-pay basis; direct billing through statutory health insurance is not possible.

Regardless, statutory health insurance funds contribute to the costs of fertility treatment in appropriately licensed fertility centers under certain conditions. As a rule, they cover 50% of previously approved treatment costs.

A statutory entitlement generally does not exist:

  • if the couple is not married
  • if the woman or man has not yet reached the age of 25
  • for women who have reached the age of 40 or men who have reached the age of 50
  • for treatment with donor sperm
  • after sterilization; exceptions require approval from the health insurance fund
  • after the 9th unsuccessful insemination in a natural cycle
  • after the 4th unsuccessful hormonally stimulated insemination
  • after the 4th unsuccessful IVF or ICSI treatment cycle

Individual health insurance funds offer voluntary additional benefits. Please clarify the requirements and scope of possible reimbursement directly with your health insurance fund before starting treatment.

Coverage by Private Health Insurance (PKV)

Whether and to what extent private health insurance covers the costs depends on the individual insurance plan and the medical circumstances of the individual case. Please have cost coverage confirmed in writing by your insurance company before starting treatment. Reimbursement may be considered in particular if fertility treatment is medically necessary due to a fertility disorder of the insured person and there is a sufficient prospect of success. Depending on the cause of the fertility disorder, treatment steps for the partner may also be reimbursable. Possible age limits, the number of reimbursable treatment cycles, marital status requirements, deductibles, and reimbursement of additional treatment measures depend on the respective plan and the insurance company’s review. We support you in applying for cost coverage with an individualized treatment and cost plan. If needed, we also prepare a supplementary medical statement.
